Pekla: Degsit!
19/06/13 || Pr0nogo
You know, I always thought non-English speed metal would be both amazing and hilarious to listen to. Just listening to people belt out lyrics in extraordinarily high pitches – in another language – has always seemed to me like a prospect so obviously difficult to pull off that most people would avoid undertaking such a daunting and arduous task. I guess that also attracted the perfect kind of idiots with Pekla, a Lithuanian speed metal outfit, who released their debut full-length album “Degsit!” on 3 January, 2013. Now I don’t know what “degsit” means, exactly, but I know that it’s probably a dick joke. It always is with speed metal bands. It was probably a really good dick joke, too, considering the record itself is pretty enjoyable to listen to. The obligatory speed solos punctuate key moments on the album, the pacing is spot on, and the vocals – while funny – are consistent enough for you to stop laughing after the first song or two. I would actually recommend that you fuckers buy this, and maybe drop a like on their Facebook page or some shit. They deserve it for this record. I also expect that this is what the gents really look like, in which case, fuck you guys.
8/10: It actually sounds like an incredibly solid album, despite being fucking hilarious to listen to.
Listen here.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
