Mindwork: Eterea

This Czech trio destroys the overrated Between the Buried and Me when talking about musicianship, ideas and songwriting. The vocals could be better, specially the screams, but that’s not a problem even though I think they should ditch them and keep the clean vocals. There are some progressive influences and melodic passages that sound like Porcupine Tree, and some more aggressive ones that bring back memories of Cynic or Scale the Summit. The jazzy/fusion sections sound very very good and showcase the taste of the band when it comes to technical arrangements without sounding like a musicians clinic.
Again, excellent musicianship, good songs and annoying vocals from time to time.
7/10: Nothing really innovative here but a good progressive/jazzy/metal band with a future.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
