Mhorgl: Antinomian
04/07/11 || revenant
Louis Rando, basher of skins for Mhorgl, gave me this disc some time back so I probably owe them a mention in the hallowed pages of GD. Only, I never really considered it worthy of a full review. Good thing we got fucking Stubs! “Antinomian” is Mhorgl’s second full length album, and can best described as utter fucking carnage wrapped up in a black metal skin. This is fast, furious and completely chaotic with frenzied guitar playing and blastbeats throughout. There is undoubtedly a sense of madness to Mhorgl’s approach, particularly when some of the melodies really drive into your brain like a knife. Initially this album is exciting with it’s “we’re driving downhill with the accelerator pressed to the floor and no brakes” approach, but it does tend to dull after a while. Oh, and that cover of “Mr Crowley”? Totally fucking insane.
6/10: Fast and furious but runs out of gas quickly.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
